Abstract

In the direction of preserving cultural identity and sustainable development of indigenous areas, the idea of spatial development of traditional homes as an up-to-date model has received significant attention in recent years. In this context, the Kurdistan Uramanat region, as one of the indigenous areas with unique cultural, historical, and architectural characteristics, has been selected as the location for implementing this model. In this presentation, we will examine the details of this model and how it is implemented in the Uramanat region. Given that the spatial development of traditional homes for the preservation of cultural identity and sustainable development of indigenous areas is a controversial issue in the field of architecture and urban planning, this presentation can serve as a practical study for those interested in this field. The terraced houses of the Kurdistan Uramanat region, located in the west of Iran, represent a unique construction culture. These homes are built in a terraced and mass form using indigenous materials and taking into account the climatic, geographical, and social conditions of the region. In addition to having historical and cultural value, these homes possess ecological and sustainable characteristics. However, these homes are at risk of destruction and deterioration. Therefore, there is a need for a comprehensive and innovative approach to preserve and develop them. In this research, we intend to present an up-to-date model for the spatial development of homes in the Kurdistan Uramanat region.
