Investigating the role of people's attitude towards the police in their sense of social security (a case study of Kermanshah citizens)

Abstract

Background and purpose: The presence of security creates a sense of social security among the people of society, and it is obvious that one of the main custodians of its provision is the police force, which directly contributes to the creation of security and sense of security. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to investigate the state of people's attitude towards the police and its role in their sense of social security.
Method: The present research is applied in terms of purpose and survey in terms of method. Data collection technique, questionnaire and statistical population are the citizens of Kermanshah city. The sampling method is cluster sampling. SPSS software was used to analyze the data and Pearson's statistic was used to confirm and reject the hypotheses.
Findings: There is a statistically significant relationship between the indicators of public attitude and sense of security. The statistical value for the variable of trust in the police is -0.432; satisfaction with police performance -0.497; Police accessibility - 0.401; police accountability -0.383; And the general attitude is -0.512.
Conclusion: In every country, the police is one of the most important pillars of social security of the people. The better the police performs this role, the better the people of a society will have a better attitude towards the police, and the preliminary condition is that the police should be community-oriented, and this better attitude will reproduce the feeling of social security, so it is cyclical. It means that they benefit each other in a mutual relationship.
