The Shanghai Cooperation Organization was created as a clear example of modern regionalism in Asia, with the aim of resolving border disputes and strengthening mutual trust among members, which gradually led to the development of the organization and its attention to economic and commercial issues, etc. After many ups and downs, Iran became a permanent member of this regional organization in 2020. Now the question is, what effect does the permanent membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization have on the economic-commercial situation and, consequently, on the political-security situation of this country? The hypothesis of the article, which has been investigated by descriptive and analytical method, is that the membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran In the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, it improves the economic-commercial and political-security ability of this country and raises its bargaining power against the West; The findings of the article showed that the permanent membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has increased the institutional power of the Islamic Republic of Iran and this, in turn, reduces the impact of the political and security pressures of the United States of America.
