Classical and Modern Theories in the Pathology of Political Culture: A Comparative Study

This study aims to examine the influential factors and components of political culture and to identify its potential vulnerabilities. The primary focus is on a multidimensional explanation of this phenomenon and its effects on political behaviors and social interactions. The present study is a review research conducted using a comparative-analytical approach and utilizing library resources. Data collection was based on library sources, academic articles, and credible electronic databases. The author then analyzed and examined classical and modern theories in the pathology of political culture using a descriptive and analytical method. The results indicate that political culture is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon that is directly influenced by various social and structural components. Furthermore, political culture, as a set of shared beliefs, values, and attitudes, plays a fundamental role in shaping citizens' political behaviors and their relationships with governmental institutions. On the other hand, vulnerabilities such as the erosion of trust in institutions, political polarization, corruption, identity politics, misinformation, and weak civic education can threaten political stability and social cohesion. Political culture is a dynamic and influential phenomenon in social life that requires a multidimensional approach for its comprehension. The findings emphasize that the institutionalization of negative components in a society's political culture creates significant challenges. Therefore, strengthening positive components such as trust, civic awareness, and constructive dialogue is essential to enhancing stability and social solidarity.
