Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the impact of cultural structuration (Islamic, Western, Iranian, and Local) on cultural action dimensions—law abidance, responsibility, urban culture observance, and social capital—among faculty members of Payame Noor University in Iran. A mixed-method approach was applied. The qualitative phase used the Delphi method with 17 experts to identify and validate indicators. In the quantitative phase, a structured questionnaire was developed based on validated indicators. A total of 351 faculty members from 16 provinces were selected using stratified and cluster sampling. Data were analyzed using SPSS and AMOS through structural equation modeling. The Iranian cultural structuration had the strongest impact on all dimensions of cultural action. Islamic structuration significantly influenced responsibility and social capital, while local structuration was especially relevant to urban culture and law abidance. Western structuration primarily exerted indirect effects through mediation by Iranian and local structures. All standardized path coefficients were statistically significant, and model fit indices confirmed the robustness of the structural model. The study highlights the crucial role of cultural diversity in shaping social behaviors. Emphasizing indigenous and religious cultural frameworks—particularly the Iranian context—can promote constructive social conduct within higher education institutions.
